El Sarape's is great. I've been there numerous time, have had great service, great food and a great atmosphere. I go alone most times and bring a book to read. Sometimes I read a long time having a beer and have never been felt rushed. Recommend it.

Ordered the steak fajitas and received a giant plate of sizzling hot steak, onions and peppers. However, the platter was also very oily and greasy like everything had been deep fried. The service was pretty good and the restaurant decor is nice. It definitely feels like an authentic restaurant.

Came here based on input from yelp. In Green Bay just visiting. Very good service, reasonably priced and good food. If you come here be hungry, LARGE portions!

We stopped here based on positive Yelp reviews and were not disappointed! We rarely give 5 stars, but this place deserves them. The booths, tables, and general decor was fresh bright and fun. The service was top notch. They were fast, friendly, attentive, and intuitive. The complimentary chips and salsa were fantastic. Super crisp chips and deep flavored salsa, yum. We ordered the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. Each plate was under $10. We each got 3 very large tacos and had difficulty finishing them. They were stuffed with ample fish/shrimp and balanced with fresh cabbage, bright flavored pico de gallo, and fresh avocado. Seriously good eats! We were thrilled with our experience here and look forward to stopping in again on our way through Green Bay.

Fantastic service, margaritas & food every time. Bring your appetite because the portions are huge! By far - the best Mexican food I have the pleasure to enjoy in Green Bay.

Get the Sarape burrito! It is giant and will definitely feed two. It looks like one of those 5 lb burritos on man vs food. The "half size" burrito that you can order is a normally size burrito at other restaurants. The ONLY reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because they charge $1.50 for chips and salsa if you finish off the free basket--what a rip off!

I have always enjoyed their food. There tacos are great, and their burritos are huge. Prices are reasonable, and actually they have a really good Pina Colada. If you want to try something that 'the locals' would eat, get the Parrillada Combinada. Its a cornucopia of meat, that just blows me away. Its the real deal.

Best Mexican food in town - and they are always willing to accommodate requests. I always get vegetarian enchiladas with mole sauce, which is not on the menu but is to die for.

I love this place, when I first moved to GB from California I thought I'd never find Mexican food as good as I had there, luckily I was proven wrong. Has to be the best Horchata I've ever had as well as awesome enchiladas suizas. Service is good, prices are what you'd expect - 9 bucks for a good size portion plate. My only complaint is that while they will wrap something up as "take out" for you, its not something they're really prepped for. They put the full meal in a to go container and given their portion sizes it spills out easily, I just wish they had a little better containers for that.

hands down the BEST authentic mexican restaurant in town. The restaurant is located unassumingly inside a little strip mall off of the mason/main intersection. If you weren't looking for it, it's more than likely you'd pass right by none the wiser. Once inside you're greeted by a friendly, borderline kitsche decor... but that's the beauty of this place! The FOOD is the star here. The portions are enormous, authentic and cheap. The free chips and salsa help curb your appetite while you wait and are delicious. Green Bay is lucky to have a place like this in the city. CHECK IT OUT

During the deepest, darkest part of winter, the surest thing to beat seasonal affective disorder is a trip to El Sarape. No, I'm not suggesting that you drown your sorrows in one of their Big Gulp-esque margaritas (although that's certainly an option too-- they are super delicious) but the fresh ingredients in the house salsas (you get the standard super-garlicky red and then a milder green tomatillo-based salsa for the freshly made white corn tortilla chips) will beat your post-winter funk in a heartbeat. The burritos are gargantuan and the prices are very affordable. It's only place where you can get takeout for $14 and have at least a second meal out of the leftovers. I highly recommend the ribeye taco with fresh guacamole or the amazing shrimp burritos (ala Cancun) which are shrimp rolled in a white corn tortilla, covered in white queso and lime zest -- outstanding! Everything in this place is fresh, right down to the housemade Horchata. Do yourself a favor and just order a pitcher right away, because you'll need its healing coolness when you accidentally overdose on a quart of the amazing salsa. I'm kind of stingy with the five star reviews here on Yelp, but if I could give a 4.5, I certainly would for El Sarape.

Very affordable, filling, and delicious. Service can be a little on the slow side when they are busy, but not bad.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
